## Overview

I help people and organizations make sense of deploying emerging tech. How do we coordinate human activity at scale, toward a shared goal, mediated by technology? I have worked versions of this same problem in air combat, in deep tech startups, and in academia with large enterprises.

Every organization I have worked inside was solving one problem in a different vocabulary: how to turn intent and vague goals into clear tasks, workflows, and coordinated work. An air battle, a validator fleet, a company adopting AI is each a set of people and machines that has to act toward a shared goal faster than the conditions around it change. That is the problem I study.

Technology mediates that coordination, and each new layer of it lands in the workplace before anyone has measured what it does to the work. I began with decentralized systems, building and then attacking the infrastructure that secures public blockchains. The current layer is artificial intelligence: how people actually work with generative systems, and what employers signal through them. The next will be robotics and cybernetics, and it will arrive the same way.

Coordination runs on signals, and most of the signals organizations use were never validated for the decision resting on them. Review-platform sentiment stands in for employer reputation. Dataset size stands in for dataset value. My research asks what those signals are worth. The standard I hold it to is evidence that is valid and usable in a real decision, which is a higher bar than a literature review or a vendor deck clears.

I have run the technology, governed it, and studied it, rarely in that order. I commanded airborne missions and advised an Air Force wing on electromagnetic warfare. I co-founded a web3 infrastructure company, secured more than $10m of customer funds on public validators, and exited. I ran technical due diligence for an institutional issuer. Then I went and got a doctorate in it.

## Research areas

### 01. Human-Centered AI and the Future of Work

This research examines how people understand, direct, and rely on artificial intelligence—and how AI systems reshape human judgment, opportunity, creativity, and work. Rather than treating model performance as the sole measure of success, I study the relationship between technical capabilities and the people and organizations expected to use them.

Current work investigates human prompt inference and refinement, personalized evaluation of AI-generated content, differences between human and agentic performance, and the ways language models represent career opportunities. A related organizational stream considers enterprise AI adoption, work redesign, technical talent, and the economic implications of integrating AI into organizational processes. Together, these projects ask how AI can augment human agency without narrowing choices, obscuring limitations, or producing poorly designed divisions of labor.

### 02. Secure and Resilient Protocol Networks

This research investigates the security, privacy, and resilience of large-scale distributed systems. I measure how protocol networks behave under adversarial and failure conditions, identify threats and systemic dependencies, and design mechanisms that help infrastructure resist attacks and recover from disruption.

This category includes my work on Ethereum node measurement, network reconnaissance, anomaly detection, censorship-resistant DNS, validator security, privacy-preserving network overlays, and rapid node recovery. Although decentralized networks provide a principal empirical setting, the broader research agenda concerns the trustworthiness of planet-scale protocol networks. The work progresses from observing network behavior, to modeling threats and failures, to developing and evaluating practical defenses.

### 03. Computational Measurement of Digital Ecosystems

This research uses large-scale digital traces to study platform behavior, information flows, privacy risks, and online populations. I construct longitudinal datasets, connect observations across multiple data sources, and develop empirical methods for revealing behaviors that are otherwise difficult for users, researchers, and policymakers to observe.

Projects in this category examine email-marketing practices and inbox privacy, media movement through peer-to-peer ecosystems, the timing and risks of online content leaks, and the characteristics that make datasets scientifically valuable. This work also produces reusable public datasets that allow other researchers to examine digital ecosystems over time. Whereas my protocol-networks research focuses on the security and resilience of underlying infrastructure, this category focuses on what application-layer activity and digital content reveal about platforms, users, and society.
